The suicide prevention work of CALM has been recognised with two high profile media awards in the space of 24 hours. On Monday CALM - the Campaign Against Living Miserably - was voted as charity of the year for 2013 by staff at leading consumer magazine and digital publisher IPC Media.

The fabulous folks at IPC Media, one of the leading magazine and digital publishers in the UK, have shortlisted CALM, alongside three other charities, to be their charity of the year in 2013, on which all IPC staff are currently voting.

The Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) will be expanding its helpline to seven evenings a week from Nov 1st, 2012. An unprecedented increase in public donations and fundraising this year has enabled us to extend our CALM helpline service from four evenings a week to seven.

CALM has been shortlisted for a MIND Media Awards 2011 under the category New Media Awards 2011. We launched our website last November, and whilst we’ve still some way to go in implementing all the bells and whistles, it’s looking pretty good.

The numbers of suicides on Merseyside among young men has fallen by a massive 55% over the past 10 years, bringing it below the average for young men in the North West and the rest of England & Wales, according to newly published figures by the Office of National Statistics (ONS).
